Spiritwood Station
Coal Power Plant | Spiritwood, ND
Scope of Work
This 99 MW coal fired power plant is part of an industrial park and sits adjacent to a Cargill Malt facility. Project planning called for Cargill Malt to use 200,000 pounds of steam per hour from the plant in its production processes, making Spiritwood Station the first combined heat and power plant in the state of North Dakota. Wanzek broke ground as the project’s civil contractor, handling dirt work, concrete foundations, underground electrical and piping. In the Spring of 2009, Wanzek became the BOP contractor for both civil and mechanical work adding structural steel, boiler erection and air quality control system installation to the scope.
